Deadliest Catch: CatchCon 2009.
The “first annual” Deadliest Catch fan convention was held here in Seattle on Saturday, April 25. Two months ago. Feels like yesterday! Your dusty reporter, Hiro, attended for 2 out of the 6 hours and survived to blog about it. The highlight of the day was putting my arm around deckhand Matt of the Northwestern. He was a little sweaty, very angry about having to take photos with fans, and extremely bloated. Perfect! Sources more reputable than TMZ’s twitter feed have confirmed than Michael Jackson has died. This on the heels of Farrah Fawcett’s sadly expected death from cancer, and kinda sorta on the heels of Ed McMahon, thus confirming these things always come in threes. Or not. Let’s face it people die all the time, you can always lump them into a group of three, unless said people are on my death pool list, in which case they will never die, ever. 
I was super happy to find out the original version of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three was airing on the CW last night. It’s not the greatest movie of all time, but there was something about the very New York-ness of it that I really loved, or at least what seemed very New York to my Californian eyes. It’s part of a whole genre of 1970s movies that really made the city another character in the movie, and not in the “let’s go shopping” fantasy land of Sex and the City, but more of a pimps, gun-violence and surly people kind of way. I don’t know why that appeals to me, but there it is. Plus, it has one the sexiest rolling in money scenes evah! Clip after the jump!
Okay, so you know how “… in my pants!” has been my catch phrase since my days at TOS? For the record, this is so not what I was talking about. 
The upfronts are here, the upfronts are here!!! For those not aware, the “upfront” is when a network reveals their upcoming slate of shows for the fall season to advertisers and the rest of the world. It’s also when you find out what shows are not renewed for the fall. NBC, because they want to be a dick, decided to have their upfronts 2 weeks before everyone else’s so we get to see what they have in store for us. Hopefully it will be better than last years debacle called the “NBC experience”. Today I bring you their summer schedule. Tomorrow we’ll look and see what they have for us this fall. And stick with MSR as we give our reaction to the rest of the networks upcoming schedules as they become available.

I’ve been a fan of SNL for a long time now. I remember the years withBrad Hall Terry Sweeney, A. Whitney Brown all the way up to today. I’ve suffered through the good times and the bad, with the good times coming about 20% of the time. So it was with delight that I was finally able to use the “I’ve never missed a show in 20 years” when they had their resurgence this year with Tina Fey’s Palin. It reminded me of that line in stripes when Bill Murrays girlfriend complained about him ordering out and spending all night listening to Tito Puente albums;
